Dressup Time
Doodled on:
the gang all dressed up.
i enjoy drawing pokemon dressed up. It's usually a nice challenge to figure out how pokemon actually wear anything, something that we take for granted. With that said, i still couldn't quite imagine how litwicks wear anything that is not a bowtie.
this piece also served as a practice for drawing cloth wrinkles. i am proud of the clothes on Cinnamon. It took me quite some time to visualise how the clothes wrinkles would look like on him. For Chihiro, i went for the colourscheme of the white mage class from Final Fantasy.
during this time, i wasn't too satisfied with colour choices of some of my doodles as they are quite 'gloomy'. For this piece, i paid more attention to the colour used so that it is much more vibrant, which i thought it was convey nicely. As for the shading, i used cel-shading but with the shadow edges soften out manually. i believe i did that by picking a colour in between the lighter and the darker colour and adjusted the brush opacity and flow.
the major flaw i can see is Pepper's flame lighting. The light projected by it onto Cinnamon and Chihiro just looks odd.
overall, i'm happy about this piece. It was one of my higher effort pieces. Moreover, the fact that i could make this in a shorter amount of time compared to my older pieces provided a nice confidence boost to myself.
